In 2016 I took my first solo trip to my dream destination of Greece. Until then I had only experienced all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico. My trip to Greece was empowering and eye-opening.  Local hotels, very few organized excursions, and doing exactly what I wanted to do.  I started a hike and midway decided to bail and do the return journey as a pub crawl. (Highly recommend!) I ate a chunk of Feta and a loaf of bread for dinner. I spent a day reading on my bed. I realized on that trip that I didn’t have to miss out on seeing anything just because I didn’t have a travel partner.  Since then, I have visited Greece, Croatia, Italy, Spain, the Galapagos Islands, Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico, Jamaica, and Aruba.  I have  traveled solo, with organized groups, and with  friends.
 
My travel adventures are about more than travel–they are about finding the freedom to do what you want, see what you want, and live how you want. Over the past years, I have collected so many priceless memories.  The waiter in a Greek taverna who could not speak English and picked up every item on the table and shouted its name to me in Greek.  The baby sea lion who curiously somersaulted so close to me that he actually bopped my mask. Taking a paella making class in Spain and recreating the dish for friends back home.

I have also learned a lot about how best  to travel. Want to know the lightest carry-on spinner suitcase?  Want to know how to research a location and plan a trip?  Or how to find beachfront towns in foreign countries where lodging is cheap and you are completely safe?

I want to share these and more in hopes of inspiring travelers, especially solo travelers, and especially solo female travelers to Chase Your Own Freedom!
